Club Dead Teamspeak server.
(If you prefer Ventrilo see posting titled Club Dead Ventrilo Server)
I'm pleased to announce that Club Dead now has it's own Teamspeak server.
Teamspeak is a program that establishes an audio link between
computers typically so MMPOG players can talk to each other during group play.
Requirements:
Computer with a sound card. Most computers have a suitable sound card.
Microphone (connected to mic input on computer/sound card)
Headphones (connected to headphone jack on computer/sound card)
Teamspeak client program
The Teamspeak client program can be downloaded here:
www.goteamspeak.com
Versions are available for Windows, Linux and Macs.
Teamspeak is free for non-commercial personal use but please
read and comply with the license agreement.
Download and install the Teamspeak client program on your
computer.
Launch the program and setup a connection as follows:
In the "Local Address Book"
right click on "Servers" then "Add Server"
Server name:Club Dead
Server address:66.207.167.75:9040
Nickname: (This is your name and is visible to others
while using Teamspeak. Using your WOW main
character's name is a good practice.)
(Uncheck "Allow server to assign a nickname".
Also it's a good idea to check "Auto-Reconnect" )
User Password: maggot
This is the server password. The password is
"maggot" for now. The password may change
from time to time.
To use, launch the Teamspeak program and connect
to the Club Dead server.
Several groups can use the Teamspeak server simultaneously
without interference by connecting users to separate channels.
When you initially connect you'll be using the default channel.
You should immediately join your group's channel.
If your group does not have a channel please create one.
Again I'd suggest using your character name to name the
channel i.e. "SevsChan, BonesGroup, etc".
If you wish your channel can have it's own password.
Or your group can use one of five permanent channels,
named MembersChan1, MembersChan2, ... etc.
It is first come first served for these channels.
Please do not join a channel already in use by a different group.
(There is one permanent channel named "BonesChan" for yours truly. RHIP<g>)
There is a limit of 20 users so when you are done
please disconnect so that others may use the server.
Some suggestions:
1. Use headphones. Using speakers causes feedback and annoying echoes.
2. Use your WOW character name so others know who you are.
3. Create and use a separate channel for your group.
This allows several groups to use the server without
interfering with each other. Channels are to easy
setup in the Teamspeak program. Or grab any empty
"MembersChan" channel.
4. Under "settings" menu set your voice activation level.
If others can hear you breathing it is set too low.
If they cannot hear you or you are cutting in and out it
is set too high. You may have to fiddle around a bit to
get this set right.
Also if your voice is very distorted you may have to reduce
your mic gain or move the mic farther away.
You can use Teamspeak's "local test mode" to hear yourself.
This is very handy for setting your voice activation level and
your mic gain. If you sound OK in the local test mode then
life (or undeath) is good.
5. Play nice and be polite.
Cost:
Free to Club Dead members.
Guarantees:
None what so ever.
The server may be discontinued at any time.
Your mileage may vary.
All disclaimers apply.
If you have any questions mail or pst me in WOW
and I'll do my best to help.
